Beyond the mess...

There's a lot I could write about today. I had a meeting with a donor. We talked about such deep issues that has left me thinking all day long.

I don't want to write exactly what we talked about, but it left me feeling how fragile and broken people are. We are so broken that we mess up and in turn, mess up those around us. It feels like a never ending cycle.

Except, I found hope in the One who is our ultimate Hope. Jesus. He's in a position to redeem the brokenness, to reconcile hurt relationships, and make us new.

I think that's what Christianity has to offer to world: love and hope. We, as Christians, aren't called to be perfect. We're called to be real and honest with those around us; to not hide our mess and brokenness. Only God can make us whole, only God can heal the parts that need healing. We are just called to be faithful by allowing God to heal us.

There's something freeing about sharing our brokenness with others too. It makes us vulnerable, which is really scary, but it also allows for complete healing. And it allows others to celebrate with us once we see the transformation that God has done in us.

Brokenness is painful. Yet, God is bigger than all of our mess. He wants to make us new. Praise Him for that.
