Adventures on the lake...

So last week, I went away with all the staff from Ontario on a 5 day houseboating trip. For those of you who have never heard of this before, it's a boat that you can sleep on. There are couches/beds, a table to eat at, a bathroom, and a mini-kitchen. There is a deck on top and a barbeque in the back. You drive around, go through lift locks, and hang out in towns. (Click here to check out some photos.)

It was a new experience for us and we had no idea what to expect, but it was a great staff getaway. We went away because it was our time to relax and celebrate. As a staff community in Ontario, we have worked hard over the past few years and our vice president felt it was time to celebrate and enjoy the company of one another.

It was clear that God wanted to bless us. The weather all summer hasn't been great. It's been rainy or cold. The week before our trip, there were such bad storms that tornadoes touched down. Yet, last week's weather was glorious. The sun was out and it was warm. It rained once, while we were sleeping, and when we woke up, the sun was out and the ground was dry again.

As I reflected on the weather last week, I felt grateful for God's gift to us. It did really feel like He was telling us that we worked hard and that we needed a time of relaxation and refreshing.
