I'm currently in Ottawa with my friend. We are visiting our friends and family, who happen to be campus ministers at Queen's University or the University of Ottawa. We have been travelling for the past 3 days, visiting everyone, getting involved in the ministry, and seeing the way that Jesus is working in these new places where our friends have moved to.
It is so exciting to see what God has done through these individuals and their students, already. It has only been 2 months!
Anyway, we were driving to Ottawa this morning. Since it was Sunday morning and we were driving, we listened to a podcast from a pastor who we heard speak when we were roadtripping in Chicago a few months ago.
In it, he was preaching about Acts 1 and how we need to live the church out. It isn't a building or Sunday morning. The church is the people. And if we want people to come and follow God, we need to live like we are the church. It was such a simple message and he proceeded to share stories of members in his congregation who lived like that.
There were so many reminders that made me think all day long, too numerous for me to include in this post. All I will say is that the sermon was simple and to the point, but it made me think again how I am being the church, how I am living out my faith to those around me. Instead of getting up in the morning and asking God to be a part of my day, I should be asking how I can be a part of what God is doing.
That is a radical shift in thought. If we would live for God, instead of living and asking God's blessing, I think the world would look a whole lot different. So it's something I am going to ask God to remind me about this week, that I live for Him, and not have Him live for me.
