Over the past few days, I have become extremely aware of how God lavishes good gifts on us. But in our human nature, in our sin, we very easily turn those gifts into pretty bad messes. I have noticed it in my own personal life, in the lives of my friends, and in our world.
If the messes just ended there, I don't think I would believe in God. Yet, I believe, or at least, I'm holding out belief, that God can turn those messes and brokenness into something beautiful, into something restored and renewed.
God is in the business of taking the broken and making it beautiful. He is in the business of taking something or someone dead and raising it or him or her back to life. For a quick example, look at Jesus. Or, check out how Jesus raises Jairus' daughter.
So as the father of the demon-possessed boy said in Mark 9, "I believe, help my unbelief".
