... He dwelled among us.
It's Christmas Day. People all over the world are celebrating the birth of Jesus. People all over the world are also gathered with their families, hanging out, and reminiscing about 2009.
Today, I sit at home pondering the significance of how the Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. Essentially, that is the Christmas story in one sentence. God sent His Son to dwell among His people.
As I have studied John over the past four months, this idea is profound. Jews did not believe that God would ever become flesh to tabernacle among His people. Greeks did not think that gods would ever make themselves human.
So on this day, I reflect on how miraculous and crazy that Jesus would become a fleshly being to be with His people. And because of that, I wonder what kind of lives that God requires of His people because He did such an act.
I am thankful that I get to experience and see some of what this might look like, as I prepare to leave for Urbana tomorrow. There will be 20,000 people gathered together, pondering the significance of Jesus becoming human and what we, as His followers, need to do in turn.
