Urbana thoughts are coming. I still haven't had the time to really process what happened for me. Nothing extremely profound came to mind, but I was just reminded of areas in my life where I am trying to seek God faithfully and God reminded me about His promises for me. Overall, I enjoyed it.
Today, I was in a meeting with my supervisor and something just clicked for me. It's very simple, but astounding. We were talking about risk taking and then it hit me. You know why God calls us to take risk? It's because we are created in the image of our Creator and He is a crazy risk taker.
Think about it for a moment. He is a perfect and holy God. He knows everything. He could do everything. Yet, He involves us broken and unreliable humans in His plans. He invites us to participate in bringing the Kingdom to earth.
And the greatest risk of all? He sent His Son to save the world, a world where many who were supposed to be His own rejected Him. Yet, He did it anyway because He knew that there would be people who would come to know Him, who would come to believe in His Name.
If that's not a risk, I don't know what is. And in a season where risk taking is very evident and real in my own life and the lives of my students, it gives me great assurance that I am learning and following in the footsteps of the One who took way greater risks than I will ever take.
