It's been 3 days since I have been back from Mexico City for Global Partnership director training. I had a lovely time there, in warm weather and with great people, but I was ready to come home.
No, nothing bad happened. I was just filled with so much joy and excitement for what Inter-Varsity was doing in the next 10 years that I wanted to come home quickly to get started on the task at hand.
If you haven't heard, the vision for Inter-Varsity Canada in the next 10 years is "Launching 20,000 extraordinary Kingdom leaders by 2020". If that sounds crazy, it is. If that sounds unattainable, I'm not sure. I think that God can make the unattainable attainable, if that's His will.
Anyway, that's our vision. As he was preparing for this training, the phrase that stuck out to the Inter-Varsity Canada's World Services director was "the land of milk and honey", which is from Exodus. That was profound for all of us. The Israelites thought they would never reach this place, but they did. As staff, we sometimes feel like we can't reach our goal either.
But as daunting as this vision is, I am excited. I am excited to have God expand my vision of what He can do. I am excited to see the lives that will be transformed for the Kingdom. I am excited to see how different Canada and the world will be once these extraordinary Kingdom leaders are in their workplaces, their churches, and their neighbourhoods, living the way that Jesus would.
The land of milk and honey. That is where I am headed. That is where I am guiding my students. I hope you will join us.
