Food vacation

In about 12 hours, I'll be leaving sunny San Francisco and heading back home. As I reflect on my vacation over the past 10 days (plus 5 days of Asian American Staff Conference), it was one filled with food.

The moment I got off the plane, my relatives took me out to eat Vietnamese food. Then we had a Chinese style banquet in the evening. At the conference, I was able to have In-n-Out, the pride of California. This trip has been full of all different types of food.

I tried Burmese food for the first time, with a salad that has 21 different ingredients in it. And I was taken out to Brazilian barbecue, where servers come to your table with skewers of meat. It was a pretty phenomenal experience.

Over the past 2 weeks, I have had Chinese, Vietnamese, Burmese, Mediterranean, Malaysian, Japanese, sourdough bread, which is also famous in San Francisco, and Brazilian food. And of course, cheesecake from one of the best cheesecake places in the States. The only type of food I didn't have, but really wanted, was Mexican. We just ran out of time.

I have eaten so much that some nights, I feel sick, but I can't decline food because my relatives find it rude. So I have balanced eating with a lot of exercise, including running by the San Francisco Bay, which was very gorgeous.

When I get home, I can't wait to have some vegetables and make some meals again. I haven't cooked in over two weeks, and I really miss it!
