I was leading a residence Bible study tonight. It's held on the 10th floor common room of the biggest residence at McMaster. I have had mixed feelings about this group. For the first 2 weeks, no one really showed up, so my leaders and I just baked cookies, prayed, and hung out with students from the floor who were studying or watching TV.
Despite the low turnout, we knew that God was calling us to lead this study, so we kept believing and praying that God would bring more people to us.
And tonight, it was so awesome to see how the parable of the sower was coming to life! We started off with a group of 6, all who I knew were coming. Someone walked into the common room, asked us what we were doing, and we told him we were studying Scripture. He was intrigued so he joined us and participated fully, until he had another commitment to go to and had to leave.
All night long, people came in and out of the common room. Some people were intrigued and would sit down, some were intrigued but declined to join us, and some people wanted no part of what we were doing and quickly walked out.
It was so fascinating to watch these responses. I can't wait to see who keeps bumping into us in the common room every week and the continued responses we get from students. It's going to be a fun Bible study to lead this year!
