It's been a theme of this school year. Whenever I present a great opportunity to a group of students, most of them tell me they'll think about it, but no action is taken.
I asked a lot of students to participate in Global Partnerships or Urban Partnerships this summer, and only two said yes. Last year, we had 7 students commit to summer projects.
It's less than a month before city/script, and the same trend is happening again. No one can give me a straight answer of yes or no, but rather, that they'll think about it. Maybe I am just a committed person, but I wonder why there is a lack of commitment from my students these days. Don't get me wrong. They are still taking risks and being faithful in what God tells them to do.
Yet, when it comes to something that is so life changing and is so good, I get empty responses. It just doesn't sit well with me because city/script changed my life. I wouldn't be a campus minister without city/script and the ways that God spoke to me during those times.
And so, all I can do is pray and ask that God would bring the people that He wants to this important and formative Bible study conference. I trust Him to be at work and persuading individuals to go, because there isn't much else I can do.
