Finding the unlikely individual...

Five days at Ontario Pioneer Camp for August Staff Days. Two days of moving. Seven days of hanging out and doing work in Hamilton. That's what the past two weeks have looked like for me. It's hard to believe that it's already September and that the start of official campus ministry starts in 2 days.

I learned a lot during our August Staff Days, where all the campus staff from Ontario camp together for 5 days of teaching. We studied the Holy Spirit's movement in Acts and saw how He heals, requires purity in the new Christian community, leads an Ethiopian eunuch to follow Him, and turns one of the greatest persecutors of the early church into the most effective evangelist for the Kingdom.

It made me think about how all of this applies now, how God can heal today, how He deals with sin, how He calls ethnic minorities to follow Him, and how He calls the most unlikely individuals to turn their lives around completely to live for the Kingdom.

And so, I'm thinking about ministry in a new way again, especially in terms of finding those who seem impossible to become believers and see them become one! I am excited for this possibility and starting to pray for this to happen. It won't be easy and it will probably be more growthful for me than for that person, but I know that is God's intention.

As ministry starts again, I'm not only praying for 10 non-believers to study Scripture with our community this year, but that we'll find the most unlikely people who are curious about Jesus.
